ATEC 0004 - AI in the Workplace: Building AI Agents for Workplace Productivity
Course Description

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of designing and building practical AI agents that can automate tasks, analyze information, and support decision-making in the workplace. Using modern tools such as Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft Copilot, participants learn how AI agents work, how they are structured, and how to create simple agents that solve real business problems.
Classes will not be scheduled for less than 6 participants.
During the session, participants explore how AI agents combine instructions, knowledge sources, and automation workflows to perform specialized tasks. Through guided demonstrations and interactive exercises, learners design a basic agent that can gather information, analyze documents, and generate actionable insights. The workshop focuses on practical workplace applications such as market research, customer support knowledge assistants, internal policy guides, and grant or funding research assistants.
By the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to structure an AI agent’s instructions, connect trusted data sources, test agent behavior, and share agents with a team. Participants leave with a working prototype agent and a repeatable process for building additional agents that support productivity, research, and operational decision-making.
